SPIN-OFF, SKEIN, & FIBER ARTS COMPETITIONS

THE TRIPLE CROWN - Once More In 2026!
THIS EVENT WAS SUCH A SUCCESS IN 2023, 2024 and 2025, WE ARE OFFERING IT AGAIN! GET 3 DIFFERENT SETS OF INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ALPACA'S 2026 FLEECE BY ENTERING IT IN THESE 3 COMPETITIONS!

  • Enter the AOA National IFA competition occurring immediately prior to the Suri Network Fleece Show
  • Enter the same fleece in the Regular Suri Network Fleece Show
  • Enter the Suri Network Spin-Off- we will pull the sample for the Spin Off competition after it has been judged in the Regular Fleece Show.

    To save exhibitors shipping expenses and to provide an opportunity for them to compete in 3 different events with a single fleece, we are offering to take the Spin-Off sample from the fleece entered in the Regular Fleece Show and ship it to Wini Labrecque for competition in the Spin-Off.

SPIN-OFF COMPETITION:
Our Spin-Off Judge is Andrea Candlish-Nissen.

"The Handcrafter's Spin-Off competition is an opportunity for the exhibitor to enter a sample weighing between 2 and 4 ounces of fleece which is evaluated on criteria relevant to the production of finished goods, rules generally follow the rules for Fleece Shows according to breed, age divisions, Color Groups, and class size." (from the AOA Show System Handbook)

Any fleece shorn after January 1st of 2025 is eligible to compete.

Please read and refer to the AOA Show System Handbook for additional information.

AOA Fleece Show Membership Fee: $60

SKEIN COMPETITION:
Andrea Candlish-Nissen is our Skein Judge. Skeins can be either handspun or commercial spun. The purpose of the competition is to showcase the skills of either the hand-spinner or the fiber mill in converting Suri fiber into yarn. Skeins must be at least 50% Suri. You DO NOT need to be an AOA Show System member to compete in Skein Competitions. The 2026 AOA Show System Handbook details the requirements for the Skein Competition.

The Skein and Fiber Arts competitions will be held after the Suri Network Fleece Show.  Competitors will be able to submit their entries in both the AOA National Fleece Show as well as the Suri Network Fleece Show.

Items entered in the Fiber Arts and Skein Competitions must be at least 50% Suri

FIBER ARTS:
Our Fiber Arts Judge is Andrea Candlish-Nissen.  You DO NOT have to be a Suri owner to submit an entry in our Fiber Arts competition. Suri Owners please consider donating materials to a Fiber Artist so that they may enter the competition, or consider sponsoring an artist by paying some percentage of their entry fee.  You DO NOT need to be an AOA Show System member to compete in Fiber Arts Competitions. For details and rules about this competition, please read the AOA Show System Handbook
